Back in the early 90s, I was looking for my next car, and I considered the MX-6. At the time, I thought it wouldn’t be easy enough to put my then folding chair into the back, and I looked for a larger coupe.

I wish I had bought the Mazda. I love these cars.

I thought these and their Probe sister were really cool back then. The Probe design has aged better, I think. Still a cool looking car. But this gave its taillights to the Panoz Esperante, which is cool.

There was one of these sitting forlornly on Lake Sammamish Pkwy for ages, I think it is gone now.  Nice timeless 90s design.

As the former owner of a Probe GT, which was an MX6 with pop up headlights, I agree. I loved that little V6.

I had the 4cyl Probe SE and I too loved that car. I only got rid of it for two reasons. One, I had herniated discs and couldn't drive it, and two my wife doesn't drive manual (and won't learn). Wish I would have kept it as a third car, but I really don't have the space.

I really, really liked that Probe GT.  The MX6 was pretty but the Probe was a really nice, balanced car and it looked good.

...why not both?

FWIW I had 2 626s, the sedan version of the MX-6 and Probe. Loved both of them. One was an ‘89 DX with a stick (42mpg average!) and the other had the 2.5L V6 which is/was such a sweetheart of an engine.

Yes.  I dearly loved my former 93 MX-6.  That V6 was such a smooth motor that made such lovely sounds.  I later on swapped it for the JDM version of that motor that was still just as lovely, but also made 40 more HP than the US version of that motor.
